Comments:My husband and I had our honeymoon at the Paradise Island Resort in March 2005 and it was absolutely fantastic!! Maldives is exactly like the beautiful pictures in the brochures. We have never been to the Maldives before and definitely recommend anyone who loves good food, lovely peeple, great snorkelling and beaches and warm weather to go there! Paradise Island Resort was amazing. The service was top standard, the staff so friendly and polite and made it an enjoyable stay. They treated us throughout our entire honeymoon including champagne and fruit on arrival and roses and decorations on our bed. The food and chefs were superb and the bungalows were very private and right on the beach. The Maldives is back on its feet and I recommend anyone who is thinking of going over there to make the beautiful trip.

Comments:I holidayed on Meedhupparu Island for 2 weeks from 31st. January this year. There was no noticeable adverse effects due to the tsunami and my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. We have just booked another holiday on Meedhupparu for February next year but this time we are bringing friends with us. They have never visited The Maldives before. We will be doing our best to spread the word that The Maldives are "open for business" as normal and that people can expect to experience a holiday of a lifetime in paradise.

Comments:My husband and I and our friends arrived back from Villamendhoo last week having had the most wonderful time ever. The snorkelling was fantastic, the service wonderful (as always) and the sun shone all the time. Luckily the island suffered no damage but the staff did say that they were very scared when the water level rose to the restaurant. We are ready to book our fifth trip very soon. I cannot think of anywhere else to spend my sprecious two weeks holiday.

Comments:We were saddened to hear of the devastation that the Tsunami caused. We have had a holiday booked to the Maldives for the last year and luckily Vilamendhoo has not been hit. It is our 4th time to the Maldives having our fist visit for our honeymoon in 1999. Some people think it is odd that we would still wish to visit the Maldives after such a terrible tradegy, "how can you sunbathe and relax after what has happend". Well we want to still visit because we realise that tourism is a major industry in the Maldives and if we don't visit we are depriving the country of valuable income. We will be there from 20 February with our friends and are very excited to visist a new island for us.

Comments:We were on Hakuraa when the tsunami hit. It was our third visit to The maldives and our second to Hakuraa. My husband had booked this holiday as a surprise for my 50th birthday which was on 26th December. It was the most terryfying experience. We were in bed in our water bungalow when the wave struck. We cannot begin to thank the management and staff for their care and their selfless actions in making sure that we and all the other guests on their island were safe even to the extent where they risked their own lives to save us. Our thoughts will always be with the family of the resort manager who sadly lost his life. We were transferred to Mulak where the local people opened up thier homes and their hearts to us, despite their own losses. We were rescued by the Pakistani Navy, who again can only be commended for their outright professionalism, care and kindness. Some day we will return to The Maldives which is one of the most beautiful places in the world and full of the most wonderful people. Much love and good luck for the future.

Comments:Very sad to hear of the destruction in the Maldives Islands. We have visited three times in the last four years, and are intending to return in May to the island of Mirihi. Hope all of the local people are coping and will soon be back to being able to make a living very soon. Everyone in Britain have been giving to the main disaster fund and certainly hope that the Maldives will be getting their fair share of this relief. Our television screens are mainly covering Phuket in Thailand, and Sri Lanka but very little mention of the destruction in the Maldives. Certainly hope to enjoying the Maldives again in May. Comments:Having visited the Maldives in the past - both to Bandos and Filitheyo, we were desperate to go again - once it is in your blood - it never ever lets you go! Anyway, I have put my money where my mouth is and booked our summer holiday this year in the Maldives. I would never take my 'tourist' money anywhere else - I would feel I was turning my back on these wonderful people. Please keep tourism up. If tourists don't go to the islands, waitors, room boys, gardeners, etc will lose their jobs. No more money for their families - we cannot allow this to happen. This would be unbelievably selfish of us, as the infrastructure for us tourists is still there - our holidays would not be affected so don't go booking the caribbean (anyway, they have hurricanes there....)

Comments:I visited the Maldives in Sept 2004 with my boyfriend, and we had the most fantastic time on the Kandooma resort for two weeks. My heart goes out to all people who were caught up in the tsunami, and all that lost someone. The power of nature is terrifying in these situations. I hope to return to the Maldives within the next few years, and would urge others to do the same. This is a country that relies a lot on tourism and will need our support. It is a beautiful country, and the closest to paradise I have ever been. God bless you all.

The resort is beautiful but it is the maldivian people who make it so. We are well aware of your past efforts to enlighten the world about global warming and other eco hazards. Keep up this work. We will continue to speak positively about you in the hopes of encouraging tourism. We wish you the best in your recovery.

Comments:My husband and I offer our heartfelt sympathy to the Maldivian people following the earthquake. We were so looking forward to a planned holiday at the end of February on the island of Laguna. We would gladly resume those plans if we had some information regarding this particular island as we realize how crucial the tourism industry is in your part of the world. We would not like to appear insensitive in asking you for information at this sad time and our thoughts and prayers are with you and all those in that region who have been affected.

Comments:My husband Darren and I where very lucky to receive the kind hospitality of one Maldivian hotel when we came to stay at Ranveli for 3 weeks over Christmas 2000? We wanted to let you know how devastated we were to here the awful news about the Tsunami and we wanted you to know that you and your staff, along with all the families are in our thoughts. The reports we are receiving in England show such unbelievable devastation caused across the Asian continent and we are very concerned for all your families that may have been affected by this disaster. Please pass on our thoughts to the rest of your community and staff. We understand how important tourism is within Asia and we shall do our utmost to continue to promote what a beautiful and special culture it offers, to encourage friends and family to visit in the coming years when it will be really needed to help in it's reconstruction. We shall without doubt continue to visit ourselves. Take care, always in our thoughts Sonia and Darren Bird.
